This article aims to elucidate the figure of destiny as presented in Jean-Paul Sartre’s Critique of Dialectical Reason. The method adopted is expository and didactic, seeking to reconstruct clearly and orderly the way in which this figure appears throughout the work. The article attempts to show how the notion of destiny, understood as the moment in which social are structures imposed on individuals, does not imply a definitive closure of freedom, but rather the crystallization of human praxis in the form of alienation. In this context, insurrection appears as a concrete negation of such structures and as a re-appropriation of freedom in a collective sense.
