Jacques Rancière’s philosophy deals with a great number of issues of different disciplines: from aesthetics to political philosophy, as well as literature and educational sciences (in this last field, it is important to mention for example the invaluable contribution of his book Le maître ignorant). And, of course, Social Theory too. The aim of this work is to analyze the way in which the author studies the problem of social order. Our main hypothesis is that Rancière’s philosophy combines, in the same motion, a critical philosophy and a philosophy of emancipation. The appropriation of this motion is essential to achieve the aim of this work.
