Results of taphonomic observations made on otariid bone accumulations recorded at the tombolo of La Pastosa Islet, west coast of San Matías gulf, Río Negro (Argentina) are presented. This information indicates a predominance of subadult individuals, mainly newborns and individuals up to one year of age, which were identified with field measurements of long non fused bones using the measure GL. On the basis of the characteristics recorded at these highly mobile bone accumulations produced by the sea, as well as their location in the landscape, the possibilities for mixtures between archaeological and modern bones on the coasts of Río Negro are evaluated.
