This work aims to analyze the sanitary and hygiene status in camps and barracks of the Garrisons of Mendoza, San Juan, Villa Mercedes and Río Cuarto from reports prepared by military doctors on the eve of the sanction of Law 4031 of 1901 known as Riccheri Law. Focusing on the perspectives of medical officers we ask ourselves: What relationships can be recognized between the agenda of the General Inspectorate of Health at the national level and diagnoses on the health and hygiene status of camps and barracks located in specific social and geographical contexts? How did they perceive that the health of the troops was affected by the health status of the civilian population with which they interacted on a daily basis? With the approval of Law 4031. How did you envisage dealing with the incorporation of soldiers into camps and barracks that did not have adequate hygienic conditions to accommodate them? And in the immediately preceding years, how was the health and hygiene of camps, barracks and other dependencies affected by the conscriptions of 1896-1898?.
