The aim of this paper is to analyse the narration and treatment of the event known as the Encounter or Dialogue of Cajamarca, in the first book of the epic poem Armas Antárticas, written by Juan de Miramontes y Zuázola, in Lima near 1609. This paper focuses on the XVIth century legal and religious discourses which take part of this poem, specifically those derived from the just war controversy and the Concilios Provinciales Limenses. This epic poem recovers, in this way, its function of being an art of good governance, according to the Counter Reformation directives and the proposals oriented to an authentic evangelization of America.
