Abstract

The present chaper is the Introduction to the superfamily Curculionoidea, on a book that is the third volume in the Handbook of Zoology series which treats the systematics and biology of Coleoptera. The introductory chapter covers the following topics on the superfamily: diversity and distribution, biology and ecology, morphology of adults and immature stages, phylogeny and taxonomy, and fossil record.
