Cuestión racial y sociología argentina: Sarmiento, Ayarragaray, Bunge e Ingenieros frente a Germani. Aportes en clave genealógica de cara al sur

Abstract

El artículo describe los modos en que la sociología argentina de fines del siglo XIX y principios del XX problematizó el vínculo entre mentalidad nacional y cuestión racial. Para ello, analizamos textos de Alberdi, Sarmiento, Ayarragaray, Bunge e Ingenieros, entre otros. Asimismo, el artículo busca poner en relación aquellos debates con la perspectiva de Germani sobre la misma cuestión. Luego de una presentación del modo de abordaje propuesto y de las preguntas de investigación, se avanza en la indagación alrededor de dos interrogantes nodales en los que se articuló la cuestión racial en los albores de la sociología argentina: el problema del mestizaje y el horizonte de la democracia de masas.This paper describes the ways in which Argentine sociology of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century problematized the relationship between national mentality and race. For this, we examine texts by Alberdi, Sarmiento, Ayarragaray, Bunge and Ingenieros, among others. Likewise, the article seeks to relate those debates to the perspective of Germani on the same issues. After a presentation of the proposed approach and research questions, we advance in the investigation around four main questions in which the racial question was articulated at the dawn of Argentine sociology: the problem of miscegenation and the promise of mass democracy
