This paper shares a first experience integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools into the final phase of the Professional Teaching Practice (PTP) program in the Mathematics Teaching program at the National University of Rosario (Argentina). The design comprises three stages implemented at the end of the annual curricular space in which the external internships take place at the higher education (first semester) and secondary (second semester) levels. Using an open-ended questionnaire, the first stage focuses on the initial state of the three future teachers who were enrolled in 2024 regarding the use of AI. In a second phase, they are asked to interact with a chatbot to improve an activity in their teaching unit implemented in secondary school. Finally, through a discussion during the practicum, both the possibilities and limitations of integrating AI into their practices as future mathematics teachers are assessed.
