Through the analysis of the play Pastor alemán (Maurizi, 2022), I critically address the issues of identity and the transmission of memories in the generations following the dictatorship in Argentina, specifically from the perspective of the grandchildren who discover their grandfather's involvement in the repressive apparatus. The play adopts an ethical-political stance regarding the past while probing complex and dual aspects of memory that challenge readings of perpetrators in terms of monstrosity. It also showcases the work done between the second and third generations to bring forth memories that had remained silenced.
