The literature on populism, often focused on the relationship between the leader and the masses, tends to overlook the intermediate links that make its political implantation possible. Because of its charismatic modalities and its working-class and trade-union origins, Peronism as a space for the formation of partisan and state elites has been largely neglected compared to other dimensions of its history. New historiographical contributions allow us to approach this movement from a new angle. Based on this literature and our own research, the article aims to take stock of the question of Peronist elites throughout their history. A specific periodization is developed to better understand the importance and central characteristics of political intermediaries within this charismatic phenomenon.
