The abandonment of university studies during the first years of study affects undergraduate degrees and engineering are no exception. With this work we tried to know how the expectations and evaluations of engineering students evolve regarding three dimensions of the instructional context: teachers, assignments and evaluations. We consider the period between admission and the first two years of studying. We work with all entrants from the 2018 cohort of the Faculty of Engineering of the National University of Río Cuarto (UNRC). Data were collected using the Incomplete Phrases Questionnaire on Expectations and Context Perception. The analyzes were performed using the IRaMuTeQ software and identifying emerging categories according to the indications proposed from the Grounded Theory. The findings obtained suggest promising paths for the design of powerful educational contexts in their possibilities of promoting in students a greater commitment to their learning.
