The emergence of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized various fields and reshaped human-machine interaction, including the tourism sector. In particular, a transition is unfolding from traditional search engines toward conversational interfaces based on Large Language Models (LLMs). The objective of this essay is to critically examine how this transformation redefines the profile and autonomy of the digital tourist. Through a qualitative and critical review of recent literature, the evolution of the digital tourist is examined from the 2.0 prosumer to the interlocutor who delegates part of their travel decisions to AI, as well as the impact of LLMs on tourism practices and the tourism ecosystem, and the emerging horizon of agentic AI. The benefits of this mediation are described, and its risks are problematized, including tourist passivity, the concentration of offerings around consolidated destinations, and ethical challenges. It is concluded that AI reconfigures a new digital tourist profile, still in an emergent phase, and that the revaluation of the human factor and local knowledge remains fundamental to preserving the authenticity and diversity of tourist experiences.
