The combination of face-to-face and mediated meetings through ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) in higher education is a growing trend. However, the overcrowding of the practice entails specific pedagogical challenges that we have decided to address in this paper, focusing on challenges posed by the literature (how to incorporate flexibility, how to facilitate an environment of affective learning and, the interaction and learning processes of the students) we describe empirical studies that place those questions in tension with the context. We show results that illustrate these challenges in relation to the analysis of texts written by teachers and students, stories of difficulties, fears and expectations in the incorporation of ICT easing or hindering teaching and learning processes in a context that stills seems to have resistance to bimodality as pedagogical strategy.
