In this work a prototype of a crossflow air-to-air heat exchanger is presented. The heat exchanger packing has a volume of 12.96 dm3 and a heat transfer area of 3.06 m2 . Measurements in different operating conditions were performed. Effectiveness of 37%, 50%, 64% and 74% and heat transfers of 300 W and 1 kW were obtained. Also, a physical-mathematical model to predict thermal energetic performance, is presented. The model works with input data of hot and cold flow inlet temperature, mass flows and constructive characteristics of the prototype. The model was validated with the measured data of outlet temperatures and comparing the effectiveness. Satisfactory adjustments were obtained in all the tests carried out.
