This study is part of the Argentine chapter of the State of the Art of Higher Environmental Education (EArte-Ar), within the Collective of Researchers in Higher Environmental Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (EArte-ALyC). It presents the work carried out during the review and validation stage of postgraduate theses that constitute the field of Environmental Education (EE). These theses address the relationship between educational processes and the environment in Argentine universities. To enhance the internal reliability of the study, the primary objective of this stage was to determine the inclusion or exclusion of 164 pre-identified theses based on a set of previously indexed and consensus-based criteria. This text is structured in two parts. The first details the techniques and procedures used to validate the theses, framed within a deductive-oriented content analysis strategy. The second part provides a descriptive analysis of the validated database according to inclusion, exclusion, and uncertainty criteria. The main result shows that of the 116 reviewed theses, 65% met at least one inclusion criterion. A total of 18.8% did not meet the inclusion criteria for the EE field, mainly because they addressed environmental topics without an educational link (30.3%) or did not address either the environment or environmental education (27.27%). Additionally, it was observed that environmental education appears peripherally or instrumentally in many works. However, the inclusion of theses addressing “living well” and environmental conflicts -both relevant themes within the database- was also noted.
