Purpose: Due to the high energy consumption of fossil fuels in the building sector, coupled with the housing deficit, it is a priority for public housing policies to promote the integration of architecture with natural renewable energy flows. Within this, solar photovoltaic generates great interest due to its technological advances, as well as the decrease in its costs. Within this framework, this article makes a proposal for the integration of photovoltaic solar energy in a neighborhood of social interest in the Metropolitan Area according to the scope of self-consumption. Methodology/Approach: The research is based on a quantitative methodology that integrates documentary, observational and project techniques. Findings: Sierras de Marquesado would be a near-zero energy neighborhood that generates 178,5% of the energy consumed, discharging the surplus to the distribution grid. Research Limitation/implication: The used online application "Solar Calculator" is often not available for online use at certain times. In addition, it is required to obtain residential (private) energy consumption, which is a time-consuming administrative process with the energy service provider. Originality/Value of paper: The proposal represents the path that brings us closer to a model in which production and consumption patterns make economic, social and environmental development compatible, satisfying the energy needs of present generations without compromising the possibilities of future generations.
