A detailed description of the flow around a representative geometric model of road vehicles with a large lateral surface, called GTS (ground transportation system), is carried out through the opensource software Code-Saturne, using the finite volume method and HPC (high-performance computing). The results focus on analyzing the concordance with the data and graphs obtained by other authors, including experimental and numerical reference works, and taking into account the velocity field, the structure and characterization of the vortices, and the fields of pressure and drag coefficients, as fundamental analysis parameters. This study is justified as a preliminary analysis for the approach of a line of investigation tending to the study of the fluid-structure interaction of the GTS model subjected to crosswind, using the aforementioned software.
