The article aims to analyze the forms of care related to the universe of alternative medicines, whose validity and increasing incidence in different Western urban centers put them in an interest place for the social sciences. In particular, the aim is to analyze a specific mode of appropriation and use of "alternative care": we refer to the matrix of intelligibility of corporeality and wellbeing that requires an active work by the user, where the self-reflection and selfknowledge in holistic terms assume a central role. This work is based on a doctoral research focused on analyzing the therapeutic meanings within a particular alternative medicine (reflexology), which was carried from a qualitative sociological perspective.
