In this work, the preparation of structured catalysts and the elimination of chlorobenzene (CB) in water by catalytic reduction in a fixed-bed reactor were studied. A structured monolith-type catalyst coated with Al2O3 and Ni was used as the active phase, evaluating the influence of the flow rate and the reusability of the catalyst. Good adhesion results were obtained for the support in the monolithic structure (98%). It was found that the flow was indeed laminar throughout the reactor, and an increase in conversion was observed for lower flow rates due to the longer residence time. In addition, the system had good reusability (3 cycles), maintaining the activity of the catalyst. These results are positive with a view to the elimination of organochlorine compounds under mild operating conditions and with low technological risk.
