The present study aims to analyze Argentinean women's prisons through the analysis of two cases: the Santa Fe Women's Correctional Institute (Santa Fe Province) and the Women's Prison of Olmos (Buenos Aires Province). In both cases, the administration of the Congregation of the Good Shepherd had to face resistance and uprisings from various state and non-state actors. From a feminist perspective situated in the global south, this work aims to provide new insights for the historical study of women's prisons and female punishment during the consolidation of the State. In this way, we intend to revisit the topic in the light of a gender perspective that questions the relationship between female punishment, civil society, the State, and its agents. In this sense, the aim is to contribute to a non-androcentric historical analysis of women's prisons.
