¡Camaradas! La humanidad es un callejón sin salida: Luces y sombras del transhumanismo de izquierda de principios del siglo XX

Abstract

Mientras que hoy el transhumanismo se asocia al libre mercado, J. B. S. Haldane y J. D. Bernal concebían un futuro poshumano estrechamente ligado a una organización comunista de la vida. Si bien fueron precursores de muchas ideas transhumanistas, a diferencia de pensadores contemporáneos como M. More, N. Bostrom o R. Kurzweil, vincularon sus propuestas a proyectos políticos de izquierda. Este contraste me permitirá explorar la relación entre prognosis científica y perspectivas políticas, especialmente en torno a la evolución artificial y la tecnificación del cuerpo humano, además de evaluar lo que podría recuperarse y lo que debe ser criticado de lo que propongo llamar “transhumanismo de izquierda”.

While transhumanism today is often associated with the free market, J. B. S. Haldane and J. D. Bernal envisioned a posthuman future deeply intertwined with a communist organization of life. Although they were precursors to many transhumanist ideas, unlike contemporary thinkers such as M. More, N. Bostrom, or R. Kurzweil, they grounded their proposals in leftist political projects. This contrast will allow me to explore the relationship between scientific foresight and political perspectives, particularly concerning artificial evolution and the technification of the human body. Furthermore, it will provide a basis for evaluating what could be reclaimed and what should be critiqued within what I propose to term “leftist transhumanism.”
