Moral realism, from the Tsinghua approach, has established itself as an approach to International Relations thanks to the work of Yan Xuetong and the growing debate on international studies in China. This debate, which arose towards the end of the eighties of the 20th century, generated an important body of knowledge that, however, has not yet consolidated its own theory of international relations. Nevertheless, the discussion is not only centered on this issue, but is also focused on the role that China should assume in the international arena. In this sense, Yan Xuetong and the Tsinghua approach, through the humanae authority of moral realism, make an important contribution, which, although it does not translate into concrete policies, does contribute both ideas and concepts from which the Chinese government can support its foreign policy.
