The sociopenal vulnerability of young people in popular sectors is not only a worrying problem, but also a field of action for public policy that calls for the investigation of the multiple and complex aspects that shape the phenomenon. This article, taking up some of the findings of recent qualitative research and from the presentation of empirical material, reflects on the impact of sociability networks on the configuration of young people's career paths, as well as the differences that are established between them depending on the higher or lower density of them. We start from the assertion that the labour market excludes young people from popular sectors but worse is the situation faced by those who are in sociopenal vulnerability because they have a record and carry a criminal conviction. However, the socialising networks of these young people are shaped on a series of survival strategies, anchored on their proximity supports that compensate - or not - their job precariousness and the fragility of their social protection systems.
