In this paper we present some new data about the archeology of the Northeast, with special emphasis on the archaeology of the lower section of the Paraná and Uruguay rivers. The new findings and interpretations have helped to develop new fields of research such as those related to Guaraní archeology, the emergence of social complexity, the mechanisms and scope of the circuits of exchange, the isotope values of the diets and the importance of vegetable component, the doubtless presence of domestic dog in the area, the contextualisation of the formal areas of burial and the recognition of sort differences and age in the treatment of the death. Some developments put of relief the necessity to examine some traditional postulates of the area, based on concepts of static and ahistóricas archaeological units, defined with very low levels of sampling and on the base to some elements diagnoses like the pottery, ignoring the enormous complexity of the rest of the associate registry.
