The purpose of this article is to make a revision of the debated problem of the Western dialectal colour that characterizes the Castilian materials of the Arthurian Post-Vulgate cycle focusing exclusively on the two later printed witnesses of the Roman de Merlin and the Suite du Merlin, namely, El baladro del sabio Merlín con sus profecías (Burgos, Juan de Burgos, 1498) and the first part of La demanda del sancto Grial con los maravillosos fechos de Lançarote y de Galaz su hijo (Sevilla, s. n., 1535); the Estoria de Merlin in the MS 1877 of the University Library of Salamanca (1469- 1470), studied and edited by Karl Pietsch in the first decades of the last century, will be incorporated into the reflection when relevant. With this study we do not aspire to settle an objectively very arduous debate but to incorporate new elements of judgment into it.
