Since 2012, the economies of the NOA provinces have experienced low growth rates, stagnation or a fall in economic activity. In this sense, the aim of this article is to analyse the evolution and characteristics of employment and employment problems in the most important urban agglomerates of the NOA between 2012 and 2023, investigating the links they may have with the new economic context. The first section of the article analyses the evolution of the Gross Geographical Product of each province, the employment rate and the number of employed people looking for another job in the most important agglomerates of the region. A second section examines the dynamics of unemployment, underemployment and informal wage earners. Finally, a third section analyses the evolution of registered employment in the private sector and public employment. In a context of slower growth or decline in economic activity, particularly since 2016, unemployment and underemployment affected a significant percentage of the economically active population, the percentage of informal wage earners and those looking for another occupation increased, while registered employment in the private sector expanded at a slower pace.
