Since the 1980s, a successive series of reforms of the educational systems of many Latin American countries were realized. This article considers the Argentine case, and concentrates in two aspects of it. On the one hand, it makes special emphasis in the systems of meaning subjacent to these reforms, specially in how specific conceptions of democracy and educational equality influenced them. On the other hand, it considers changes occurred past the 1990s, looking at what took place after a lapse of extended consensuses on the need to reform of Latin American educational systems. In addition, the study aims to show the specific contributions that result from considering the collective forms of subjectivity involved in those changes.
