In this article, didactical foundations are presented in order to teach some conceptual elements of philosophy of science within the science curriculum for the different educational levels; special emphasis is placed on upper secondary school (students aged between 15 and 18). The proposal that is developed here intends to attend to the aim set by the innovation line known as “nature of science”: teaching students how to critically think on the scientific activity and its products. The theoretical framework is described and justified; then, some of its possibilities and limits are presented for a teaching of the nature of science based on epistemological propositions selected due to their formative value. Lastly, some instructional activities are reviewed; the activities were designed according to the theoretical framework and show the kind of classroom practices suggested.
