Relaciones entre la geologia, volcanismo y geotermalismo en el Noroeste Argentino

Abstract

El presente trabajo muestra el potencial de la energía Geotérmica en el Noroeste Argentino. El trabajo enfatiza sobre las estrechas relaciones existentes entre las diversas provincias geológicas y las diferentes fuentes de calor en ellas presentes, De esta manera se observa que en la región de la Cordillera Volcánica y área de la Puna, existe una marcada asociación entre el fenómeno volcánico y el geotermalismo, mientras que en las otras provincias geológicas situadas más al Este, el termalismo se asocia a la infiltración profunda de aguas meteóricas en áreas de gradiente geotérmico normal o anómalo. Se realiza una breve descripción de los diferentes usos de la energía geotérmica y las distintas posibilidades de aprovechamiento económico del recurso existente en cada una de las regiones descriptas.The work shows the potential of Geothermal energy in the Northwestern Argentine. This work emphasizes the close relationships between the different geological provinces and the different heat sources present in region, In this way, it is observed that in the region of the Volcanic Range and the Puna area, there is a marked association between the volcanic phenomenon and geothermalism, while in the other geological provinces located further east, the thermalism is associated with depth infiltration of meteoric waters in areas of normal or anomalous geothermal gradient. A brief description is made of the different uses of geothermal energy and the different possibilities of economic use of the existing resource in each of the described regions.
