The beginning of the studies on the ‘public space’ is marked by the Jürgen Habermas’ book Strukturwandel der Öffentlichkeit, who argues that the formation of the ‘public space’ is a phenomenon peculiar to bourgeois society that occurs in parallel with the affirmation of the capitalism from the XVIII century in the West. Since Habermas rejects the existence of a ‘public space’ for the Athenian case, in the present work we will return to this case to discuss the Habermasian thesis.
