The objective of this work is to analyze different dental and periodontal indicators (caries, abscesses, antemortem tooth loss, periodontitis, and dental calculus) in the bioarchaeological sample recovered from the lower basin of the Colorado River, corresponding to Late Holocene (ca. 3000-250 years BP). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the role of plant resources in the diet of the hunter-gatherers groups for this area. The results of the analyses performed on individuals of different ages and both sexes show a higher prevalence of caries, antemortem tooth loss and dental calculus during the last 1000 years AP. This information suggests changes in the diet, associated with a higher intake of resources with major content of carbohydrates. The results obtained are consistent with trends reported for neighboring regions to the study area (i.e., Pampa, Patagonia, Cuyo, and Sierras Centrales).
