This article reconstructs and analyzes the central hypotheses developed by Juan Carlos Marín in *Los hechos armados* regarding the dynamics of class struggle in 1970s Argentina. Drawing on a review of his intellectual trajectory and the context in which the work was produced, the article examines his proposal to conceptualize the period as a process in which social confrontation tended to take on a politico-military form. It analyzes the use of the category of “armed events” as a strategy for empirically measuring social confrontation and the connection the author establishes between class struggle and the theory of war. It also discusses the political and epistemological conditions that hindered the reception of these theses in post-dictatorship Argentina.
