The fibers of four Eucalyptus spp. Clones, two pure (E. grandis) and two hybrids (E. grandis × E. camaldulensis), grown at two contrasting sites in northeastern Argentina were anatomically characterized with the aim of identifying genetic materials with greater potential for different industrial applications. The analyzed variables included fiber length, total and lumen width, cell wall thickness and proportion, and microfibril angle, at three radial positions along the stem. The results showed that the hybrid clones exhibited a higher cell wall proportion and smaller lumen compared to the pure clones. Clone GC INTA 27 presented the slenderst fibers, while EG INTA 157 showed the least favorable structural values due to its high microfibril angle. On the other hand, fiber length was the most consistent variable along the radial direction. An inverse relationship was also observed between tree slenderness and microfibril angle. These results confirm the importance of this anatomical variable as a selection criterion in breeding programs aimed at producing structural wood.
