What was the role of disagreement in the political life of Argentina in the XIX century? Where was it expressed? What type of political action was used? What where the links between disagreement and opposition? What part did parties play in such scenarios? This paper seeks to explore, in the light of these general questions, the alternatives chosen by Córdoba’s political elite to process political opposition within the broader framework of the changing political situation in Argentina in the late 1870’s. Its aim is to identify the spaces and strategies of intervention resorted to by Córdoba’s nacionalista and autonomista political leadership in their struggle to control power in the province, and the way they discursively fought those battles, in the context of more general considerations about the place of disagreement and opposition in politics.
