This presentation deals with the forthcoming political decisions regarding the new proposal for the Education Act, particularly those aspects concerning curricular design. In this sense a question arises as to what the teachers’ contributions are considering the political decision of changing laws in force. The government of the Province of Catamarca holds that education is the basis for economic growth, social development, and the strengthening of democracy. In view of these principles, it summoned all teachers, in December 2005, to attend the First Conference on Education, Culture, and Science that was held in the province in February 2006. Thus, the aims of this work are: a) the priorities teachers have concerning curricular matters; b) to analyse and compare various opinions heard in different localities of the province. The qualitative and descriptive approach adopted renders a wide range of contributions that should be taken into account at the time of deciding on a new curricular proposal.
