The proposal for laboratory teaching in the university environment is based on the construction and production of knowledge by each student in collaborative contexts, gaining experience and knowledge both individually and in groups. In this way, the conditions are created for the student to become the protagonist of the reflection of their own practical experience and its transmission. In the Quality Control of Medicines subject of the Pharmacy program at the Universidad Nacional del Sur, the development of the different practical works strengthens the students’ learning and the acquisition of more and better tools for their training as future professionals. To this end, the performance of a spectrophotometric method used by fifth-year students in pharmaceutical analysis was evaluated. This is a consolidated analytical technique used in the pharmaceutical sector and is valid at both industrial and magistral scales. It was found that some of the students were not able to perform with the precision required by the method, as evidenced by variation coefficients greater than 2.0%. In the retrospective analysis of the analytical test carried out, it was found that the critical points were the low skill in handling the automatic pipettes and in the use of volumetric material. As a positive aspect, teamwork and the ability to question and acquire their own criteria when verifying whether the samples comply with current legislation stand out, which is reflected in the drafting of the report to be presented. In pharmaceutical professional education, experimental activity should be considered a priority at advanced stages of the university career.
