In this paper the first results from studies conducted on ichthyofaunistic assemblages at La Modesta and Loma de los Morteros sites are presented. These sites are located ca. 60-50 km from the Atlantic coast, on aeolian sand dunes affected by deflation processes. Results of radiocarbon dates place the chronology of the site within the Middle Holocene. The recent field studies (superficial survey and test units) allowed for a recovery of an important number of lithic, faunal and human remains. In this work, the results of the fish bones are used to evaluate the causes of their presence on the sites. These results show that fluvial species (perch) are present in higher frequencies and have been consumed. Fish consumption trends, proposed for the study area are discussed.
