In this paper we intend to take an exploratory and critical look about what some reflections of the affective turn can tell us, but also what limits they reach, in order to investigate the constitution of political identities, subjectivation and social action in digital platforms —understood in this regard as a virtual agora. We aim to think about the light and dark that we may face when putting into play some of these perspectives in the framework of informational societies, mediated by the digital technical disruption that we currently inhabit, marked precisely by the relevance of affects in a disembodied, virtual and often anonymous framework, also characterized by a certain primacy of the image. Mainly because a range of theoretical approaches point out there the effects of a hyperbolized interaction that stands out for its emotionality, the production of hypersensitized subjectivities, the retribalization of relationships and social values, the affective polarization and the hypermoralization of the adversary as relevant elements, especially with regard to political dispute, democratic coexistence and agonistic dynamics. Normativity, autonomy, opacity, spontaneity and manipulation appear as problematic knots for reflection on affection today.
