Resumen
This article outlines Argentina’s recent progress in adopting New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for safety testing, focusing on the efforts of the Laboratorio de Métodos Alternativos (LMA). It highlights the growing global shift away from animal testing towards more humane, efficient, and scientifically advanced alternatives. It also describes the initiatives leaded by the LMA lab, including the development of national and international collaborations, training activities, and participation in OECD test guideline programs. Finally, it emphasizes the importance of integrating NAMs into regulatory frameworks and fostering a cultural change among stakeholders. Despite significant challenges—such as lack of local validation centers and limited awareness—the article demonstrates Argentina’s commitment to advancing non-animal testing strategies, aiming for greater scientific and ethical alignment with global trends.
