A simplified methodology to estimate the heat exchanged through opaque building envelopes under steady state and time-dependent regimes including the solar radiation effects is presented. The dynamic heat flux is obtained from the Fourier series expansion of the equivalent sol−air temperature and the application of the admittance method. A typical wall is considered as case study and its thermal behaviour is assessed when it is facing north and south in ten Argentinean cities throughout the country. Results corresponding to January and June, the most energy demanding months to reach the building interior comfort, are presented. Thus, the heat losses and gains are quantitatively estimated considering the local climate and taking advantage of the thermal properties of the assessed wall.
