The global economic crisis generated by the pandemic and the sanitary policies implemented in order to deal with the virus in the country made a huge impact on the labor conditions. In order to understand the social scenario that took place within the crisis requires considering the impact of sanitary and social policies regarding sectors and gender. In this paper, using official Household Survey data, we analyze the impact of the first year of the pandemic in the Argentine labor world. We specifically study the evolution of employment, unemployment, economic participation, labor income, subsidies and social assistance, as well as the relevance of the type of labor contract (formal, informal or self-employed) and the evolution of occupations in different economic sectors. All of these categories are crisscrossed with gender-dynamics. The results intend to recognize the effectiveness of different social policies in order to redistribute the costs of the crisis, as well as their limitations. Besides, we identify the challenges in terms of gender-equality of the economic recovery that began to take place after the outburst of the crisis.
