he production and use of lithic artifacts manufactured by Guarani groups is poorly known in Argentina. This situation has begun to change in recent years, thanks to a renewed interest in their archaeology. Hence, the main goal of this paper is to study the lithic technology of the archaeological site Arenal Central, located in the island portion of the lower Paraná wetland (Argentina). We analyze the lithic assemblage and the raw materials represented, through different statistical indexes. Then, results are compared with published data from Arroyo Fredes archaeological site. Our final purpose is to discriminate similarities and differences on technological strategies, as well as to establish regional tendencies on the lithic assemblages used by these groups.
