Apontamentos sobre a mudança religiosa na Argentina: Aproximações ao estudo das formas de conversão e passagem no mundo neo-pentecostal

Abstract

O artigo se propõe a explorar as principais razões da mudança religiosa dentro do neopentecostalismo na Cidade Autônoma de Buenos Aires. O trabalho se encontra focalizado em uma das principais mega-igrejas da Argentina que se caracteriza por um crescimento sustentado nos últimos vinte anos. A partir de dados estatísticos, entrevistas em profundidade e observação participante, o autor traça a relevância das redes sociais da mudança religiosa e o lugar que ocupam as formas da violência e o sofrimento social nas biografias dos crentes. O artigo se encontra organizado em três partes. A primeira consiste em uma revisão geral dos estudos de conversão. Na segunda se descrevem analiticamente três trajetórias emblemáticas da igreja. Por último, são analisados os fatores mais importantes que estruturam a chegada de novos crentes ao neo-pentecostalismo.The aim of the article is to explore the central elements that take to religious change within neo-pentecostalism in Buenos Aires city. The paper focus in one of the most important mega-churches in Argentina, that stands out for the growing rate of the congregation during the last twenty years. Combining statistical data, in-depth interviews and participant observation, the author analyzes the importance of social nets in religious change and the roll of violence and social suffering in believer´s biographies. The article is organized in three parts. The first one consists on a general revision of the different studies concerning conversion. The aim of the second part is to analytically describe three representative´s trajectories of the church. Finally, the author develops the most significant elements that structure the arrival of new believers to neo-pentecostalism.
