This paper analyses how the press that regarded itself as the representative of Argentina’s working class during the 1930s managed the Chaco War between Paraguay and Bolivia (1932-1935) and the subsequent peace negotiations (1935-1938). We will focus especially on the position Argentina assumed towards the conflict; the active role this country played both as a mediator and as an interested party. The analysis concentrates on revealing if the agreements and disagreements found in the different publications under examination, each one of them representative of a particular political and ideological sector within the Argentinian Left (trade unionists, socialists, anarchists, communists, and anarchists-communists), were a reflection of the tensions within that sector of the political spectrum.
