In this paper, we present the findings of an analysis of film representations of corporeality and sexuality of women in Argentine cinema. In order to study the representation processes which structure the system of power and gaze, the paper explores the narrativization of the body as an arena for gender conflict, based on the analysis of three milestones in Argentine cinema history: End of Innocence (1957) directed by Leopoldo Torre Nilsson, Camila (1984) directed by Maria Luisa Bemberg and The holy Girl (2004) directed by Lucrecia Martel. Resorting to an interdisciplinary approach combining feminist film studies and cinema studies, we attempt to identify the clues necessary to understand how the visual poetics linked to the representational universe of film fiction showcases various ways of representing women’s bodies and sexuality, while manifesting, in its production of the real, its connection with aspects of the present
