The aim of this article is to analyze the thoughtless use of the term ethnography in reference to historical sources, carrying out an incipient process of reflexivity on the composition an historical material. It was produced in 1914 and is part of the last stage of the constitution of the first fraction of the rural working class of the National Territory of Misiones. The hypothesis that mobilizes the study is based the fact that the realization of the historical document in question tried to intervene in the normative definitions of capital-labor relations, producing a report packed with preconceptions about an ethnically, socially and historically defined local population. This research uses a qualitative and descriptive methodology and adopts the path of historical enquiry and genetic analysis proposed by Pierre Bourdieu.
