The conceptualization of the mobilization of scientific knowledge is an interesting proposal for the problematization of the relationship between the social sciences and their “other”, and offers some clues to situate the dynamics of interaction between the processes of knowledge production in social science, both in terms of the relationship between the elites of the field and the rest of its members, as well as with extra-academic agents who can appropriate and use the results of social research. In this paper we discuss the dynamics of mobilization of scientific knowledge in the social sciences – particularly for the field of political science – revisiting certain analytical elements that observe the relationship between academia and the environment. We also present some empirically based conclusions from fieldwork on the perceptions of highly productive researchers in political science about the process of knowledge production, the strategies and forms of interaction, and the main users of their research.
