This thesis aims to show to what extent the historical events of the Great War represent a fundamental component in understanding the thinking of Walter Benjamin (1892-1940) and Franz Kafka (1893-1924). In addition to analyzing certain elements of the life and work of the authors concerned, the problem of narrowing the influence of the conditions of the Great War on the intellectual journey of both characters, particularly with regard to certain existential concepts such as experience and death, is addressed.
