In this article we revisit some of the fundamental positions of the biologist Jakob von Uexküll (1864-1944). We approach his theoretical construct from three perspectives. Ethology: we analyze his concept of the environment (Umwelt), his transcendental aesthetic applied to animals and his notion of belonging to the world; Ontology: we analyze his concept of "biological coordination", his notion of life as relationship, and his musical image of nature as "change ordered"; Biopolitics: we analyze his biological theory of the State in the human species as opposed to Darwinian oeconomia naturae.
