The city of Barrancabermeja, Colombia, experienced accelerated growth in the early 20th century as a result of the establishment of an oil enclave, which generated a divided and unequal territory. Since the 1980s, forced displacement has been a central factor of socio-spatial transformation. However, the scheduling of investments in the refinery in 2010 generated high levels of speculation that promptly reconfigured the city, producing a smallerscale fragmentation. The objective of this work is to analyze these reconfigurations between 2000 and 2018 through a methodology that combines both qualitative -semi-structured interviews- and quantitative -census data analysisstrategies.
